Aggression versus innocence. Tough versus fragile. There are stretched out thorns, expanding over several quarter meters against the gentle, meek vulnerability of the flowers.
The extremes of the juxtaposition emphasize the beauty. The aggression could even be guarding the flower, it isn't hurt, it's feeling well. It doesn't feel bad between these thorns, quite the opposite. The two opposites complete one-another.
